A big post for October

October was a busy month. We took Miller out to the Corn Maze, which he absolutely loved! We didn't actually go through the Corn Maze, but they had tons of other activities that we could do, and Miller loved it. He loved it so much, in fact, that he's mentioned it several times since we went. He's pretty disappointed that he has to wait until next October to go again. We also took a trip to College Station. Plus, we had Trunk or Treat at the church, as well as HALLOWEEN!

At trunk or treat, church members decorate the backs of the cars, and the kids go around trunk or treating. He had a blast!

Halloween night, Daddy skipped class in order to go trick or treating with us. I think it was a great idea because this was the first year Miller actually understood trick or treating, and he did such a good job. He would walk up to every door, and tell them "Trick or Treat." Then, he always said, "thank you." He was so sweet and cute, and everybody commented on how good his manners were.

This is how Miller would ride from house to house. Actually, by the end of the evening, we were pulling an empty wagon because Miller wanted to walk.

September 2011

September was a big month for us. Miller started potty training, which was a bit of a struggle...especially with my ever-expanding belly. The Forensic Nurse Examiner's had their fundraiser. It's to raise money for the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners' education and to promote awareness. I was in awe of how many people came out to support us. Both John and Austin walked, as well as several of my co-workers or their spouse. It's a different kind of fundraiser. Men are asked to walk a mile in high heels. So, the fact that so many of the guys I know came out to help meant so much to me.

My dad actually ordered John's birthday present weeks early (obviously, since this is in September's post). They are Texas A&M boots. Miller obviously loved them as well.

In all honesty, the kid is obsessed with shoes of any kind, flip-flops, boots, crocs. This is just a super cute picture of his smile. He never smiles for the camera, so I have to post the smiling pictures I have when I get them.

Miller got sick this month. Thankfully, cuddling with his Daddy was a good cure.

All the girls from work couldn't believe he was walking in those, and Austin definitely had to pay more attention to where he was walking compared to John who was in wedges. Never thought I'd be saying that...

The first video is of Miller, walking around in Daddy's new boots. The second video is of me, getting my birthday present. Yes, it was a month early, but they were European size, so I had to try them on immediately to make sure they fit. It's a good thing I did because I had to send them back for a larger size. I couldn't believe my country accent in this video. Do I really sound like that? Craziness!

August 2011

Well, we haven't been the best with keeping up with the posts, and BIG things have happened in our household recently, but I really want to keep everything in order, so here's a short post about August. Miller started preschool in August. He absolutely loves school and his teacher, Mrs. Ashley.

So, Miller was watching an Elmo video every single night for quite some time. There's one part where they teach how to sign the alphabet. At the end of it, the cartoon character says "Show me your sign, baby." Miller started saying it, and it's adorable!

OK, that's pretty much it for August. Let's see what I can come up with for September. :-)

Grady's Room Virtural Tour

Well, we are finally (almost) done with Grady's room. It's a good thing too since his due date is coming up fast. Only a few decorations are missing, but I figured it was time to show off all our hard work. The pictures will take you around the room in a clockwise motion, so, without further ado, let's begin the tour.








We hung this amazing diaper wreath made by Amy Beasley, which was given to us at the shower that she and her mom threw. I thought it was super cute and perfect to hand on Grady's door.

This is standing in his doorway and gives a great view of his back wall and the tree/nature print we bought off etsy. This came out great and it wasn't difficult to put up. I think this is my favorite decoration and love it.

This is the dresser that John refinished. It was his Dad's dresser when he was a kid. I wished I had taken a before picture to show you how much different it looks now. Before, it was a kind was stained this kind of light yellowish color. John stripped off all the old stain, sanded everything smooth and then repainted it to match the color of Grady's crib. Most of it is original except for the trim on the corners. The original trim had been broken off so John added new square corner trim. Miller has a dresser from the 1950's that John and his Dad repaired and refinished back in 2004. So, with this dresser, both boys have a dresser with ties to John's dad.

Up close view of the handles of the dresser. I thought that they deserverved some recognition. They are the original handles from the dresser. John cleaned them up nicely. Also, they are entirely glass handles. Don't see that much anymore.

We moved the glider from Miller's room to Grady's room as Miller isn't much for being rocked to sleep anymore.

A star lamp hung we've had lieing around for awhile. It is hung over the glider and fits in perfectly with the rest of the decorations.

Grady's crib. There is a changing table on the right part above the drawers. The crib will make into a full size bed when Grady gets older and the changing table can become a nightstand. Pretty spiffy if you ask me. There was another print that was supposed to go over the crib that had Grady's name surrounded by stars, but we are still waiting for that to come in.

Well, that's it for now. The room came out great. Better than I had imagined. I hope Grady appreciate's all the hard work we put into this room for him :)

July 2011

We were so happy to actually take a vacation this year. We went to Lake Fork with the Casas family. The weekend started off sans kiddos, for Jessie's surprise 30th birthday. Then, Nonna and Pops brought Miller for the rest of the week. Billy and Anita Ogea came with the Casas kids. We had a great time, and here are a few of the pictures from our camera.

The birthday celebration, Jessie, McKason, and Miller all have their birthday within a couple of weeks of each other. McKade's birthday is in August, but we went ahead and had a birthday cupcake for him as well.
