In case your life wasn't complete without it...

because I know mine wasn't. Miller is the size of an eggplant this month. The average size is 13.6 - 14.8 inches, and 1.5 to 2.2 pounds. Here's Audra's video she has as her status. I must warn you, it isn't highly enjoyable. There must be slim pickins for eggplant videos.

I'm pooped.

Phew, we've been working like crazy around the house lately. Miller's room is finally finished. I've just got to do some touch-ups to the border to make sure all the edges are glued down, but here's some pictures of the room along the way. Here's the primer on the bottom half of the room, right after John had finished that up.

Here's John putting the second coat of white on the top half of the room. Remember, we had come back from an out of town weekend, and Mom and Dad had already painted the first coat for us.

This weekend, Austin helped John. They touched up the white, and painted on the red. When they were hammering the lid back on the white, they managed to splatter it on the red. Sigh. Austin is obviously proud of his handy work. (You can see the white splatters right behind him.)

Here's Mom and I putting on the last of the border tonight. Dad helped us out with his handy dandy chalk line tool, but it was pretty rough on us putting on all of the border. An hour after we finished, and my knees are still red.

Here's the finished product, paint and border. I think it looks so cute. The bedding and curtains are going to be a darker shade of maroon, but I think it will all work out in the end. I love the room design though.

This weekend was wonderful. It started out Friday evening with a crawfish boil at Mom and Dad's. It was Mimi's birthday, and Mrs. Peggy and Mr. Terry were in town. It was also our first boil of the season, and it was so good. Here's a picture of John and I. For reference, the baby bump is 24 weeks 5 days.

For Mimi's birthday, Mom wanted to take her for a day at the spa. She was nice enough to take Mrs. Peggy and I along too. Mimi, Mrs. Peggy, and I got facials and pedicures with paraffin wax. It was wonderful. Here's Mrs. Peggy and I during the pedicures. I decided to be nice, and not post the picture of Mom after her hour-long massage.

Overall, it was such a relaxing but productive weekend, and I'm so happy to have Miller's room done. Now, we've just got to get the furniture. They had to order it, but most of it is in. We should be able to pick it up in a few weeks. We've just got to find the time. It seems like our weekends are getting more and more scarce. Oh well, it's so much fun!

Blogging during lunch.

Every night I've been meaning to write a blog, but there's just been too much going on lately. So, I'll write a quick blog just to update everyone, and try to get on to post some pictures tonight.

It's been so long since I posted, I can't quite remember everything that's been going on, so I hope I'm not repeating myself. Last week at work was wonderful. So many people were gone, which leads to less interruptions, and increased productivity. I was able to put out four cases in the review box. These were pretty large cases that had just been hanging around for forever, waiting for me to do one last thing. I was so glad to get my desk cleared off that I actually dusted the whole thing. Then, this week started and I dove into my next eleven cases...wow, I didn't realize it was that many until just now. Maybe I shouldn't have started quite so many. I'm sure these will drive me crazy for the next month, at least.

At home, I painstakingly taped the rest of Miller's room, after I borrowed a ladder from my dad, and drew two lines on the wall to signify where the border will be going. Then, I bought the paint on Thursday. John shocked me by being so willing to start painting. He went ahead and put the primer on the walls that evening. I wanted to get a picture of him doing that, but I forgot until he was actually done, so the only pictures I have are of him looking at the wall he'd just painted.

I had a doctor's appointment on the 12th. Again, it was just a belly check, but everything looks fine. My next appointment is in April 9th. That's going to be a big one. I'll be doing the glucose test for gestational diabetes, which I'm a little concerned about because my mom did have gestational diabetes with my brother. Plus, Paw-paw is diabetic. Oh well, we'll just see how it goes. Also, if Miller is facing the right direction, we'll be able to get a 4D ultrasound, which would be so cool.

This weekend was spent in Humble, Texas with our friends the Beasley's. We had such a great time with little miss Abby. Plus, I got to do a little bit of shopping, always a plus. It was a nice relaxing weekend with friends, which was great.

Mom had told me that she really wanted to do something to thank John for all the computer work he does for them, so she had planned on painting some of Miller's room while we were out of town this weekend. As soon as John opens the garage door, he noticed that his hose was unrolled. Now, this is the guy who leaves his clothes all over the bedroom, but he gets indignant over his hose not being properly wound. When we get in the house, I can immediately smell the paint, which is so strong, but John doesn't seem to notice. I don't say anything to him, and he just unloads the car and starts doing stuff around the house. Finally, he walks over in the direction of Miller's room, and calls me in there. Mom and Dad had painted all of the white on the top part of the room. Mom had always warned me never to have Dad help paint because he's not the best, and that's putting it mildly. I guess our high ceilings really got to her though because she ended up calling Dad down to help out. They did a really good job though, and I know how much of a help that is for John. I think he was really dreading doing that part of the room.

Sunday night Miller was so active. I was laying in bed, letting John feel how much he was kicking, and it was, by far, the most John's been able to feel. He couldn't believe it. I think his exact words were, "It's like he's in there riding a bicycle." It's great because the kicks are getting so much stronger, and John can really tell now. It's so much more thrilling for both of us. I can definitely feel myself getting bigger. Movements aren't as easy as they used to be, which I know will just get worse, but it's just strange. I feel like I'm making a lot more grunts and groans when I'm moving around.

I know it's only Wednesday, but I'm already ready for the weekend. Friday night we're supposed to be having crawfish. It's the first time of the season and I CAN NOT WAIT. Then, Saturday we're doing something special for Mimi's birthday. It should be fun, and I'm going to try to remember to take some pictures, since I've done such a bad job of that lately.

Other than that, there's talk of baby showers!! The shower for Jessie and John will be April 18th. Then, Amy Beasley and her mom are throwing a shower for me on May 30th. Plus, I just got a message from John's cousin that they want to do a shower on June 7th. I'm so excited. I have finished our registry, which was so difficult. I had to read reviews about everything and compare and go back and forth. I swear, it took me weeks. We're registered at Target and http://www.kidsarefanstoo.com/, in case anyone wants to check them out. Let me know if you notice anything crazy, like three strollers or something for a little girl. :-) Hope everyone's having a great week!

Picture Day

Well, it's March 5th, so it's time to post our monthly picture. First, here's the one from last month. February 5th, 2009, where I was 18 weeks 4 days.

Here's the current picture, I'm 22 weeks 4 days.

I think I'm showing a little bit more, but still don't have the "pregnant" look. I know I've seen where other woman notice they look more pregnant earlier during the day than at night. Maybe I should try taking the picture in the morning, to see if I have a more rounded look then.

I started our registries tonight. I'm definitely not done, but at least I've started...finally.

Baby Papaya

Every week I update my gmail status with the size of my baby from thebump.com. Since so many of us at work use gmail, most of the girls from work have been keeping up with Miller's size as he grows. Last week, he was roughly the size of a banana. Audra, the randomness queen, started posting youtube videos to match his size. This week, I changed my status to say Miller was the size of a papaya. This was what Audra sent me, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4oPRz3ThTw. Again, I am distubed and wonder about the people who come up with these things. It's kind of fun though, to see what video Audra finds to match his size. Unfortunately, Miller stays the same fruit size for the next few weeks. So, she'll have to wait for her next video search.

This last weekend was pretty productive in the Vrana family. I actually didn't go into work on Saturday. I've gone in every weekend since New Years, except for those that we were out of town. It was so nice to take a weekend, just to get things done and not worry about going in to work. Plus, Mrs. Peggy was in town, so she, Mom, and I planned on having a little bit of some girls' shopping time. John and I headed over to Baby World early to put a deposit down on our furniture. We've decided to get the crib that can be converted into a toddler bed and then into a full sized bed. We'll also get a dresser that will act as a changing table, and a glider and ottoman. We'll keep the four-drawer dresser that John and his dad restored.

Mom and Mrs. Peggy were supposed to meet us at the store, but they were running late. As soon as they got there, Mom came running in to apologize for taking so long. She's been taking knitting lessons in order to knit a baby blanket for Miller. She was trying to suprise us, but she felt so guilty about running late that she had to tell me. I think it's such a sweet idea, and I was shocked when Mom told me.

After Baby World, we headed up to the Boardwalk to do some shopping. I got Miller some cute baby clothes at Carter's. Then, we hit the Chocolate Crocodile (YUM!) and lunch before heading home. We spent the evening playing Chicken Foot (thanks to the Casas family for teaching us that one) and eating pizza at Mimi and Paw-paw's.

We also managed to clean the house pretty well, and I taped off the nursery, so we'll be able to start painting pretty soon. Here's some recent pictures of the nursery. We'll call them the "before" pics.


Here's a picture of Miller's closet, with everything baby-related we've gotten so far. It's not too much. I guess it's time we seriously thought about registering. :-) That's Miller's bedding in the bottom corner. I just love it!

Finally, here are just the cutest pictures I've gotten in a long time. Usually, after I've gotten up in the morning Lexi cuddles up next to John. This one morning, Lexi crawled right up in my spot, and put her head on the pillow and everything. I couldn't help snapping a couple of pictures.

I guess after I woke Lexi up with the camera flash, she decided that it was time for her daddy to wake up too. So, she leaned over to give him some "Good Morning" kisses. I'm sure John appreciates me posting these pictures for the world to see, but I just couldn't help myself.

Things are starting to come together

It seems like since we've found out the sex of the baby, everything has started flying by. Since the 12th, we've finished getting all the stuff out of Miller's room, ordered and received baby bedding, wall border, and a crib mobile. We've also started receiving boy clothes already. Michelle's parents bought Miller a couple of onesies, footed pajamas, and some overalls with a picture of a crawfish when they were out of town this weekend, and we received a package today from my Mom that had two onesies, and two pair of cotton pants. It's all so cute and so small. I can tell this kid is going to be spoiled, not even in the world yet and receiving gifts on a weekly basis. This weekend we are going to purchase the baby furniture we have picked out, as well as getting the room ready for painting (put plastic on the floor, find paint, etc.) When I was up in the attic, I found like 6 half cans of white paint that they used at some point or another for this house. I think we're gonna try and use that paint for the white in the room before we go buy any. We're gonna test it on the walls this weekend. So, yeah, thinkgs are starting to come together. I can't wait till we have the room done. It will be the coolest kid's room in the world. If you didn't know, we're doing the room in A&M colors, maroon and white, with a little chalkboard paint on one wall (the kind of paint that they can actually use just like a chalkboard) and metallic paint on another part of the wall. With metallic paint, you can put magnets on the wall, and they'll just stick to the wall. Cool huh? It'll be awesome.
